Insulin Insights Newsletter #1 – Welcome To My First Edition

If you’ve started to read this newsletter, I’d like to start off by saying a huge thank you for taking the time to be with me at the start of this journey.

My name is Dylan, and I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in February 2016, at the age of 10. It would be fair to say that between then and now, I have endured a lot of adversity and some challenging years. However, fast forward over a decade to October 2026, and I have just completed my first marathon and consistently achieve 90%+ time in range, all while managing my diabetes through multiple daily injections (MDI), running 50–70 km a week and regularly strength training.

I don’t think that lost 12-year-old kid would believe those things.

That’s not to say I am any kind of expert. I’m just 21 years old and still learning about myself and this condition every single day. However, I do feel I can add some value to fellow diabetics through this newsletter, helping them discover a companion who understands the complexities we navigate on a daily basis, while trying to offer support and solutions to make that burden feel more manageable.

That is exactly why I wanted to launch this newsletter. It may sound cliché, but even if it offers an outlet and helps just a handful of people, then it is totally worth it to me.

So, I hope you can find value in it.

I’ll be publishing my newsletter every Friday, and it will be delivered directly to your inbox. Alternatively, you can read it on my website, insulininsights.co.uk.

I’m excited for the future, and I hope you can be a part of it!

Stay tuned for the first official newsletter, where I’ll be delving into my recent internal conflict about whether to switch to an insulin pump.
